Section IV - Fire and Explosion Hazard Data Flash Point (method used): >200 C
Flammable Limits: LEL: UEL:
Ignition Temperature: >300 C
Thermal Decomposition: 250 C
Extinguishing Media: Use dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide, or water spray
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Wear personal protective equipment and self-contained
breathing apparatus
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: None
Section V - Reactivity Data Stability: Unstable
Conditions to Avoid: Not stable when heated above 100 C. When curing above 100 C, it is suggested that no more than 0.5 kg of the bulk product be used to avoid the hazard of uncontrollable thermal decomposition.
Incompatibility (Materials to Avoid): Product may react with acidic or basic agents, amines and oxidizing agents.
Hazardous Decomposition or By-products: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxides of nitrogen. Incomplete combustion products may include phenol, ammonium hydroxide and hydrogen cyanide.
Hazardous Polymerization: May occur.
Conditions to Avoid: Polymerizes above 100 C with release of heat.
Section VI - Health Hazard Data Carcinogenicity: No
NTP? No
IARC Monographs? No
OSHA Regulated? No
Human Effects and Symptoms of Overexposure: Bisphenol A, polymer with epichlorohydrin, is a mild eye irritant. As with all adhesives which contain epoxy resins, skin and mucous membranes may be irritated on contact; sensitive persons may show allergic reactions. As this epoxy has a very high viscosity at room temperature, such risks are reduced.
First Aid Measures: Avoid skin or eye contact; do not ingest; wash after handling; keep container closed when not in use; use good plant practices.
SKIN: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash with soap or mild detergent and large amounts of water. Get medical attention if irritation occurs. Wash contaminated clothing or shoes before re-use.
EYES: Wash eyes immediately with large amounts of water for about 15 minutes. Get immediate medical attention.
INGESTION: If person is conscious, give water or milk to dilute stomach contents. Obtain medical attention.
INHALATION: Curing of the adhesive should be performed in a well ventilated area; and, wherever possible, under direct removal of fumes. Inhalation of vapors should be avoided; and, if symptoms occur involving the respiratory system, oxygen should be provided and prompt medical attention obtained.
Section VII - Precautions For Safe Handling And Use Steps to be taken in case material is released or spilled: Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, contain spill using absorbent material; sweep up and place into appropriately labeled, closable container.
Waste disposal method: Dispose of or incinerate in accordance with local regulations. Avoid contamination of ground water and waterways.
Precautions to be taken in handling and storing: HANDLING: Use only in well ventialted areas. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Wash hands and other exposed body areas before eating. STORAGE: Store in tight containers away from heat, moisture, food and beverages. At a temperature of 20 C the storage stability is 3 months. Storage temperatures between 5 and 15 C are preferred, as at a lower temperature, shelf life is extended. Prolonged storage at temperatures > 20 C should be avoided. TRANSPORT: (Not meant to be all inclusive) DOT SHIPPING NAME: Not regulated. REGULATORY: (Not meant to be all inclusive) All components are on the TSCA Inventory.
Section VIII - Control Measures Protective gloves: Required
Eye protection: User must wear safety goggles with side shields.
Other protective clothing or equipment: Use protective clothing and gloves to prevent skin contact.
