Application: Remove burrs and sharp edges from slots on machined surface of pulley without removing paint from surrounding surfaces.
Process to be used: Fully automatic, custom designed, dedicated machine.
Current process: By hand using deburring knives and non-woven hand pads.

The part was brushed as shown in photo at right.
The part was rotated at 30 RPM as the machined surface was brushed at 1,250 RPM with a depth of interference of 0.050". The part was brushed for a total of eight seconds.
The direction of brush rotation was reversed mid-cycle to simulate the use of two counter-rotating brushes.
The edges on the parts have been successfully deburred and a small radius generated without removing a significant amount of paint from the surrounding areas.
